Andy: Jason! Stop! Let someone else clear the table!
Jason: Yet one more chore Mom'll never ask me to do again.
Peter: Obviously, you only look like you don't know what you're doing.
When I asked if I used gasoline or kerosene to light the stove, I was permanently banned from the kitchen. That was after my Palmolive in the dishwasher experiment.
We never let the kid get away with these types of things. He redid with supervision, paid for breakage and learned to do it right. Did well with it, too. In college he was the only one who knew how to do laundry properly and made quite a bit of side money “helping” his friends.
In my lab, there are certain kinds of set-ups I don’t do because I’m actually clumsy enough I can’t do them well (no depth perception). I can do them, but I’m quite slow…

That wouldn’t work with my mom. She’d just make me do it the right way.

My sister would disappear in the bathroom forever so I had to do dishes.

Practical incompetence - it’s more of an art form than a science.

Peter’s reading “Bungee Jumper”, and the back cover ad is “Visit St. Louis” and its croquet hoop.
