“The greatest evil is physical pain.” Saint Augustine

“Pain is as diverse as man. One suffers as one can.” Victor Hugo

“People fear death even more than pain. It’s strange that they fear death. Life hurts a lot more than death. At the point of death, the pain is over. Yeah, I guess it is a friend.” Jim Morrison

My brother has been a fanatical biker (mountain biking and road biking) for over 30 years. He has suffered countless injuries and numerous operations over the years, all related to biking, and even had friends die in biking accidents. I like to point out to him that during all that time, I’ve never once injured myself sitting on the sofa watching TV.

Pain is nature’s way of reminding you that you’re still above the grass. Some you can work through, some needs NSAIDs. Need something stronger? It had better be agony. Look in the mirror in the morning, smile, knowing you’ve cheated death yet again.

If you have pain when you wake up in the morning, you’re alive!
