Calm down Relevart, remember that Ziggy is the always the receiver of bad luck. The cartoon is simply saying that if Ziggy agreed to sponsor an exchange student that this is the student that HE would get.

It’s not saying that ALL exchange students or foreigners are like that; nor is it directed at a whole group or the rest of the world. It’s a kind of humor called “Irony”

You alluded to “the ugly American” as though that is a negative. I humbly request you read the actual book by Lederer. He is the hero and someone we should emulate. From your comments I think you would approve of him and admire him. He just happened to be unattractive.

Libertarian: Concerning the Ugly American: You have no lit degree nor the capacity to understand irony. Which would explain you being a libertarian. It requires very little in the way of complex thought process. making it easy to sell in a ten second sound bite and perfect for the Kardashian American. You might also like to root for Ahab and Captain Queeg. (YOu can look ‘em up real fast.)

You may, however, be indulging in sarcasm, which is the lowest form of irony and also easy to sell to Kardashian America.

Teresa: THANK YOU!!! I love it when someone actually points out our real form of government. If we keep electing Repubs who want to kill all education, it may be forgotten along with the math and science they keep trying to quash.

Not certain if you are missing the concept of irony or just basically illiterate. The book by Lederer entitled “the Ugly American” has as its hero a warm, kindhearted, generous, considerate American ambassador of good will. He is beloved by all. Physically he is unattractive hence the title. It was written to be ironic (look up the word).

If you consider those are qualities of a Queeg than you are unfortunately beyond hope.
