OMG, Spud was the hero! He will remember this moment when he is sipping jello through a straw when he is old and grey, as apposed to the young and grey he is currently.

No good deed goes unpunished, as they say.

My Hero

I rarely dissect cartoons for accuracy but I’m missing something. She slipped and landed in Spud’s arms? Why would she require a bandaid? And, for that matter, why is she unconscious?

Spud saved Amelia’s life and this is how she repays him!! Not cool Amelia!!

Lucky in life, unlucky in love.

I love how everything in the third panel is in black and white except for Spud and Amelia. That’s how he’s experiencing the world at that moment.

Years from now, when the strip end, I hope some fan does a tribute piece where Spud and Amelia end up together as adults, like “Pants are Overrated” did with Bacon and Hobbes.

Then again, Amelia doesn’t deserve him.
