Heart: Does it ever bother you that an ice cream scooper is being used to dish out mashed potatoes? Dean: I supposed it could be worse...if it were used to dish out peas... I don't think I'd ever be able to get that image out of my head. Heart: Still, the whole idea of something designed to serve dessert, being used to serve vegetables... Heart: It all seems so....sacrilegious. Dean: Those lunch ladies are a nefarious lot.

@Darkeforce That’s what they served them with at my school as well - and I’m sure once the lunch ladies were done, the maintenance staff took the leftover potatoes and knife and did some repairs around the school.

Those scoops lead to some serious misunderstandings. Way back in grade school, probably 1st grade, I watched them putting food on the trays. I was unimpressed with the day’s offerings until the ice cream scoop came out with what appeared to be chocolate ice cream. After sitting down I ate a spoonful of something that was about as far removed from ice cream as it was possible to get.
That experience put me off refried beans for a couple of decades.

And once again, I am SO glad I never ate the school lunch – I always took my own!

Thank you! I thought you’d spelled ‘sacrilegious’ incorrectly, so I went to look it up. Turns out I’ve been spelling it incorrectly all these years. Oops!
So thanks for teaching me something today. :-)
And I really love your strips.
