I wonder if Mike feels guilty for letting his imagination unleash Mr. Butts on world.

Hard to say how Mike feels. After you have sold your soul maybe you no longer have the parts needed to feel guilt.

All it did was allow them to cut back a bit on Advertising & Marketing.

Apparently, that is how Exxon got its idea for the Exxon Valdez oil spill. They spent so much time in court fighting and appealing the original court decision that many of the people who sued originally were dead. One of the saddest parts of this was the amount of money they won originally was what Exxon showed as a profit for one quarter of the year.

Drug stores, Walgreen’s, CVS and local stores are finally ending their sales of tobacco. Now to get Costco and Walmart and grocery store chains to stop. One step at a time.

I’d laugh, but it’s not really funny. I worked at a law firm that did a lot of work defending the remaining tobacco companies and/or their successor companies from lawsuits. They’d send teams of attorneys to interview people close to the plaintiffs, digging for information that they could use to discredit their claims. I’m pretty sure that the industry has consolidated down to a few companies, and they’re fighting tooth and nail to avoid any meaningful settlement that admits culpability.
