Folksinger Tom Paxton tells the story about when he was in the army (administration, I guess) everyone had to take a typing class. He was a proficient typist but he had to take the class. The instructor said, “write letters to your family.” After he had written everyone he ever knew, he wrote his first song, The Marvelous Toy.
