I remember a time when I was trouble-shooting a dust collector system at a cabinet making plant in Juarez, MX for Zenith corp. Not only did they have some hoses patched with corrugated board, but I observed that after workers cleaned up the residue around the plant, they proceded to use the blower in the vacuums to dust themselves off (inside the plant). Like Ruthie, it is all about understanding WHY you do things. This is also why I can effectively use cross ventilation with no fans while my neighbors are running AC and heating.

vldazzle: I agree that natural air conditioning is much cheaper, if not quite as effective as powered air conditioning. But many people do not seem to get that if you open the windows when it’s hotter outside than in, and the day is young, that it will be far hotter before long, even if the moving air feels cooler. Get a fan and leave the windows closed during the day!

I know it’s time to mop when my hardwood floor looks like shag carpeting.
