As a teacher, I missed those weeks, too. There was no feeling of accomplishment, there was no closure. I really missed our “great migration” the last student day of going to the bus lot with signs and noise makers to say bye.
Reminds me of when I retired…it was the recession and I lost my job for the third time. Since I’d already looked for work for an entire year and encountered age discrimination but no hires, I retired…no going out party, no luncheon, no cards, nothing. Seemed anticlimactic to 45 years of work.
