My in-laws are buried in a military cemetery near Phoenix AZ. It’s just little markers as far as the eye can see. No monuments, no flags, only plastic flowers (and only until the maintenance guy gets rid of them). We’ve been once. Big whoop. Phoenix is a two or three day drive, depending on how creaky our bodies get. We plan to be scattered (in the same location) at the spring where a beautiful river rises. At least our kids will have the pleasure of that… if they come.
Once again… as soon as I come across one of your cartoons I have to switch over to Carolyn Hax’s column to read the back story. No matter what else I’m doing. I’m a huge fan of your cartoons – the art and their original take on the story in the column – and that they also stand alone! (It was months before I realized there was a connection).

I want my stone to read, “See?! I told you I was sick.”

While I don’t want a grave, I do want a memorial stone somewhere that reads “Meh”.
