Hey, Scottie wore a red shirt–I guess the rule doesn’t apply if you’re a regular.

Uhura wore red also…. though she did wear a Gold uniform in 1 episode,The Corbomite Manuever, I believe.

I have a better question: why does his shirt have sleeves?

Just noticed on second glance that Robin Hood is wearing Kirks’ ”Casual” Uniform - the green one w/ the emblem on the waist. I never understood that one - or Picards’ ‘Jacket’ in the final seasons of TNG Anyway Nice one ,Justin.

Kirk’s green shirt with the wrap a round belt was my favorite, when it had his rank on the shoulder as scrambled eggs.

Shirt colors in tos were: Gold command crew, Blue the sciences, Red ship services.

Security being one of the ships services they wore red shirts

In at lest one episode a blue shirt bought the farm, may be more.

I thought that Red was Engineering. Maybe engineering is under “Ship’s services”.

In the USN, if you are unrated (not a Petty Officer), white stripes are deck, red engineering, green aviation, blue CBs.

Those blue stripes the CBs wear are a light blue so as to distinguish them from the dark blue that deck ratings wear when they are in the service dress white uniform.

ROFLOL - I want that last square on a t-shirt.

Engineering & security tend to have a higher death rate than the glory boys they always put in charge.

Re mightaswellbe: Not sure about the other colors on the flight deck, but red shirts are damage control/fire fighters & purple is refueling.

And, I just mention casually that Karma’s Federation uniform looks quite attractive.

@mntim, it’s government issue: one size and shape fits all. Some things you can count on not changing, no matter how many centuries you go into the future.
