That is a lot of hand injuries. But, pirates seldom wore eye patches due to injury – they wore eye patches to keep one eye accustomed to the dark at all times. Then, when boarding a ship, when they entered the belowdecks cabins, they’d swap the patch to the other side and have the same visual acuity as they did abovedecks.
