I never lock my door when I’m home, even at night. My neighbors don’t lock their door when they go to work, either. Never been a problem in over 20 years.
I use to walk my apartment door all the time, about 5 years ago I had a fall in my apartment and broke my leg (just a hairline fracture, but it was still a break). When I couldn’t stand up on my own I called a friend to help me but then I had to crawl to my door with the help of my walker so I could unlock the door so he could get in. Since then I only lock the door when I leave the apartment for an extended time.

There seems to be a law against people locking their door in a sitcom. It looks like the same is true for comic strips.
