Maybe not so awe-inspiring in a Hollywood sense, but in the real world, it is really awe-inspiring. Intergalactic travel is never going to happen. Intragalactic travel is extremely unlikely. But among the numberless stars is a numberless system of planets. It is arrogant to think that among all those possible worlds, ours is the only one on which life found a foothold. If two such worlds should ever meet, the finder is by definition going to be more technologically advanced than the findee. I doubt it will ever happen, but that is no reason to stop trying. There may some day be a civilization and a society capable of intragalatic travel. It may even be us. But we have to live long enough as a species to give ourselves time to discover and invent all the things that would be needed. Will we do that? Can we do that?
There are an estimated 10 Septillion stars out there. 10 with 24 zeroes. There has to be intelligent life on one of them? Well intelligence, such as it is, may not be a successful option for life. Dinos last 175,000,000 years, I doubt we will make the first 5,000,000 if you posit we’ve been around 4,000,000 already.
And, with typical human arrogance and lack of imagination, most assume any intelligent life we find (or that finds us) will be, at least, carbon based and vaguely humanoid. What are the real odds on that…?
And, of course, they will believe in the made up god of the xtians, like it’s the one real thing, as opposed to all the other thousands of gods man has made up over the millennia… or that they would have a religion of any kind at all. Just because vast swaths of the human race are utterly brain dead, far too many assume any extra-terrestrial intelligence would be too.
Aliens, in the limited view of most folk, are almost always patterned after the shape of mankind, just like most all the gods we’ve made up… we are an arrogant bunch.

They are looking at the sky wondering if there are people like them on other planets who are looking at the sky.

Compared to our world, those 2 problems seem pretty insignificant.

If they are really intelligent beings they are trying to find a way to avoid us.

This kind of makes me wonder that if there IS other life out there, why, would they WANT to be like us?
