I’m glad people liked seeing my garden. In answer to some replies, no, I don’t have gourds in my garden. And to Animom4 – My corn was flattened by a big storm with strong winds on Thursday last week, but by Saturday, it was standing up again. I didn’t have any luck when I tried planting lettuce and spinach a couple years ago, but last year, I tried planting lettuce in a flower pot. It was a hanging basket and I hung it from a shepherd’s hook to keep the bunnies away from it. That worked pretty good. I tried planting peas in my back yard garden (the big garden in the video is at my brother’s place in the country, about 3 miles from my place) and not much came up. What did come up disappeared, so I think the bunnies got to it even though it was inside the fenced part of my yard. I saw lots of bunny tracks in the snow on the inside of my fenced yard in the winter, so I know the fence doesn’t keep them out of the yard. My video shows where I planted zinnias on one side of my green beans. Well, on the other side of the green beans, I planted carrots. Not one single carrot came up. But I tried something different this year. I get potato beetles in my big garden so bad that I decided I’d try growing potatoes in my back yard in a couple large flower pots. And I planted carrot seeds all around the potatoes. Those carrots came up. It’s too soon to tell if the potatoes or carrots will produce well in the flower pots, but I figured it was worth a try. And very easy to harvest this way, too. Oh and I planted more green beans where I had the peas in my yard. I planted those in late June, so I’ll have a late crop there. The bunnies have left the bean plants alone.
Someone get a broom and sweep those little guys out the door fast. Sigh, yesterday I left the empty cat food can on the floor and the kitty bungalow was swarming with ants. The broom helped and I washed the floor with peppermint soap which I am almost out of. Still some in there this morning. 103 again today, triple digits every day in the long term forecast. A/C in the kitty bungalow comes on several times throughout the day so they are comfy.
Not only are those fleas obnoxious, they also appear to be quite crafty. A little too craft to fall for a flea bath. It’s going to take some cunning strategy to get rid of them. On another note, saw a rabbit and two sparrows while out walking today. I also saw a dragonfly and a butterfly in my garden. On the way back to the house, I saw what is either a vole or shrew run past me.

Those fleas are very picky. They should be honoured that Annie wanted to give them a bath.
