If you’re a real teacher like some I’ve known and like Mrs. Olsen, you never run away, you find a way. Until that lovely day when you’ve done everything you feel you can. Then you go on to something else. A teacher really never stops teaching, bless ’em!
Why did she answer his question with a question? If it does, as she claims, have an answer. Perhaps it does have an answer, either yes or no, but she doesn’t yet know which is correct. It would be quite a story arc turn to have Mrs. Olsen start the year, catch COVID from and along with several of the students. Then we see her on a ventilator, then she dies. As will many of her fellow teachers, especially the older ones with underlying health issues. Stay tuned.
I am an educator, 18 years in after 14 years in the private sector, and school has been shut down since March 13 in PA. I am going through withdrawal. I miss working; however, I miss the kids even more. My 7th grade science teacher taught for 44 years and is in his 2nd year of retirement. He posts often on Facebook and does a story time video every Monday. He’s still teaching and he always will. And he was my varsity basketball coach way back when. The man has not changed. He looks great! As a former principal I used to work with and I have both said – it’s all in your approach. If you enjoy what you do, it shows. And the kids will respond. In kind.

For those of you familiar with it, I’m sure you know what I mean, and for those unfamiliar, there is a Twilight Zone episode, called, “Changing of the guard,” with Donald Pleasance. It is probably my absolutely favorite episode, and it matters not a whit, how many times I’ve seen it, I will watch it, again, and again. To me, it epitomizes what a teacher could be.

Like I always said, Mrs Olsen is the kind of teacher who keeps the system from breaking down.

good to see Mrs. Olsen is still perking. Gotta pray the same for so many other folks in and out of comics that I have not seen for the last 7 months.
