Why, I am asking myself, does a tortoise need an external compass? I always thought they had an internal one, so that they could return from the sea to lay their eggs. Besides, if he cannot read the road signs, how does he even know what a compass is?
yuggib – To start with, he’s a tortoise. They live on land. Like everyone else in this strip, you’ve confused him with a turtle. Tortoises don’t come in from the sea. They don’t get in the sea! A lot of folks that can’t read know what a compass is. Or a carton of milk or anything else! And did you not notice the language the signs were written in??? Let’s see you read them!

Don’t need a compass..you can follow the sun…as long as it’s sunny out!
