In elementary school and junior high school, the penmanship teachers insisted that we hold our pencil exactly the same way the righties did, only mirror image. But then, they insisted that we write with the same slant as the righties. You can’t do both. That is why most left handed people write with that weird grip. I remember, one night, doing my homework and complaining that I was smudging my work. My sister (also left handed) said to me, “straighten your hand and slant your letters the other way.” I did (right in the middle of my work) and never went back. Teachers should teach a reverse slant to left handed kids, but noooooo, that would be heresy.

Lots of things weren’t designed for us left-handers. I could make a list.

Indeed. We live in a systemically handist society.

Do they still make those Jack-in-the-boxes? I think I had one in the 50’s and my kids had one in the 80’s. ;-D

I love the colors in this comic today. Is that a left-handed compliment?

Most pencils were made for right handed people. The printing on them is right side up in the right hand and upside down in the left.
