Dark Side of the Horse by Samson for April 13, 2011
Transcript:
Melody: Horace, I've got a math problem for you! Horace: Shoot! Math problem: "The offices at the Village hall are numbered 1 to 12. When the mayor walks in Monday morning and he opens all the doors. The attorney for the Village then closes the doors of the even-numbered rooms. The Mayor's Secretary changes every third door, opening the ones that are closed and closing the ones that are open. How many of the 12 doors are open after the Secretary finishes? Horace: I wanna work there!

I hate being reminded why I couldn’t make it into MENSA…
WaitingMan over 13 years ago
I did make it into MENSA. I let my membership expire. It’s an organization of rich, arrogant, obnoxious snobs. With all the racial diversity of a tea party gathering.

WaitingMan, do you mean nationally, or your local branch? My local branch is reasonably diverse, and while I can’t say there are no snobs, they don’t tend to go to the functions I go to. I’ve never been to a national function, so I can’t comment on those.

I was referring to my local branch. Anyone whose life wasn’t a glorious success story was treated like a second class member. As someone who is unemployed and on disability, I always got this treatment. I eventually said “ENOUGH”, and stopped going to meetings. My membership expired at the end of March and I have no intention of ever renewing.

What about creating a new club of poor, unemployed brains that do read Dark Side of the Horse and snob snobs? We could start with a facebook or yahoo group and see where it goes…
I suggest we call it the Sine Club.

I got 6. But agree with Chris M.

I get 6. “…changing every third door (from open to closed or closed to open)” winds up closing 2 open doors and opening 2 closed doors, so the net result is still 6.

I’m not a racist. My experience with mensa was being with a lot of people who judged others by the size of their bank account. Anyone who wasn’t wealthy was judged to be inferior and was treated as such.
