Ben we had a number of items over the years we had to put together. Desks, chairs, sofa, tables, file cabinets and the list goes on. We bought a lot from Sauder and love their stuff. Plus we have stuff from 15 years, 20 years, 30 years and more. We take care of it and it looks great. Sauder especially has great directions (with pictures).
My wife ordered a clothes dresser. 8 drawers. Took me a full 8 hours to lay out parts and another full 8 hours to assemble.\Then it took another 4 hours to correct engineers mistakes.
The last thing I bought that had no ‘directions’, the previous had three pictures and they made no sense. Why I prefer buying local. You can see what you are getting and go back to the store for help.

The most important piece is missing, the instructions. Must not be from IKEA.

Communist China and the directions aren’t readable but are not so in 16 languages.

My husband and I put together a TV from Heathkit. It was not hard with good instructions.

Try buying ANYTHING from IKEA that is already assembled. Not going to happen.

We’ve bought many things over the years that needed to be assembled, including office chairs. Between the two of us, we got it done.

Look at it this way, it’s already pre-destroyed.

This reminds me of the roll top desk I bought and put together. It’s hard for me to believe it was 28 years ago.
