ROI has changed meanings for me multiple times in my life. In high school French class it was “king.” When I was an accounting major in college, and throughout the first half of my career, it was “Return On Investment.” Now that I’m a medical coder, it stands for “Release of Information.” That last switch was the most difficult to get used to. In a hospital, the ROI department is NOT where the accountants dwell.
