Nobody wants to see you in shorts Earl.

Earl doesn’t care…he doesn’t have to look at himself.

She tossed ‘em…

First the socks now the shorts? Earl sure has issues.

This is actually one time I’m with Opal. That’s a first for me.

Get some Cotton Dockers shorts. They are the shorts of summer.

She has those plaid shorts in her hands in the last panel. At first, I thought her knitting had just changed colors. Then I saw her knitting in her lap. Obviously, she was sitting on the shorts while Earl was looking. Makes her final statement make more sense.

She does have an occasional lucid moment.

Good observation and good of Opal hiding them.

Once you reach A Certain Age, you’re freed from any pretense of ever being cool, and you can joyfully embrace your inner dork. It’s quite liberating, actually.

Opal..give them to that guy over on “Ballard Street” He’ll wear them..

Yeah, I could visualize Dangerfield wearing them.

He must read his own comic Earlwash, then he’d see himself. Also now I know about the inner dork. Funny! I wear high waters now with no shame.

I’m sure Earl has a pair that looks just as out of place! lol
