That’s my process for finding a misplaced tool or some such. Buy another. Then, try to think of a place to put it where I’ll remember it next time. And put it there. Right next to the old one.
I have an umbrella in the car, another at work, some in the closet at home and one in the garage. Most of them I don’t use because around here it usually rains sideways and I’m better off with a jacket that has a hood.

One of Fineagle’s Laws: The fastest way to find something you mislaid is to buy a replacement. You will immediately trip over the old one!
