I remember those trucks but we didn’t follow behind them.
… and globs of mercury from broken thermometers provided entertainment when we would move them around and watch the mercury draw together again. These days, any amount of mercury getting loose brings out people in hazmat suits.
And gasoline smelled good going into the tank.

yes, we didn’t know any better back then! I remember the exact same thing – running behind the “Bug Sprayer” truck and thinking that fog was so cool!
