The bit about “it costs more to make them than they’re worth” came about back when pennies were still predominantly made of copper. Now they’re a thin layer of copper on a blob of zinc.
Stupid pennies are bad enough but how about the way they price gasoline. They add .009 cents at the end so we’ll all think it’s such a bargain. “Oh wow gas is $3.099… that’s so much better than $3.10” That’s a tenth of a penny less. Really! Is there such a thing as a tenth of a penny? Can we get real here.

Get rid of them. Canada pulled them from circulation in 2012. Many others as well. You can look it up
