Farley knows the way home and he will return. Certainly pooped out and a bit the worse for his adventure, but he will come home to the ones he loves and who love him.
My recollection of this one is very vague, but “that smell” referred to by Gweedo flagged a memory. I think “that smell” (of lust) is something else. And worse.
I don’t know, puppybreath. Dogs aren’t as good as cats about finding their way home. Or maybe they have such a good time wandering that they don’t want to come home. I’ve had several friends whose dogs have accidently gotten out and some got them back (weeks later) and some didn’t.
When I moved with my cat, he ran back to the old house several times. New owners would call and I’d go get him. Then one day he left and never showed up again anywhere. He was an indoor cat, but slipped out uncatchable that final time.

And when Farley does get back he will sleep for 40 days and 40 nights.

Aw …that’s a terrible feeling when you think your pet may be lost.

If he had been spayed, this wouldn’t have happened!

Ahhh, but @lightenup, I can say with assurance that he will come home because I know how the story of Farley actually ends many years later.
Actually, when it finally did, I sat on my porch and cried.

As info, Farley would be neutered, rather than spayed.

lin4869 you beat me to it… I was going to say “If Farley had been spayed the vet could’ve been sued!” :o

Poor kid. He doesn’t quite get the concept of “stolen” yet, does he?
