I remember how I felt when my cat disappeared. My sympathies, Mike.

John’s living a dog’s life.

He’ll be back!

I was about Mike’s age when our dog disappeared for 2 days. I was so upset I had an asthma attack and had to go to the ER. When he came home, Mom and Dad let him sleep in my room that night,

I’d take that as a compliment. ’Cept I woulda said Dad instead of father.

Snort! Ahem… Michael, that wasn’t very kind to say about your dog, I mean father!

Probably slipped over to Pooch Cafe for a visit.

Like… notice he said “like”…

Let’s have at least one day without putting down every female in every comic strip. What is Elly supposed to say? She took the kids out to look for the dog.

I agree! Elly may only think of Farley as just a dog. But to Michael, that’s his best friend in the whole world and he’s missing! Elly needs to show her son love, support, compassion and sympathy – even if it’s not something she really feels. That’s just what any good mother would do! (And b.t.w.: I’m not saying Elly doesn’t care about Farley! But right now, at this moment, she appears – to me anyhow – to be pretty indifferent to the fact that her pet is missing and her son’s absolutely sick and devastated over it).

if his dog was like a father to him then i bet his dad was like a pet to him! :)

It doesn’t seem to me that Elly spoke harshly to Mike; she’s trying to divert his attention away from his sorrow.
