I’m surprised the phone has a dial on it. Usually, it would not, so that it could only be used for incoming calls. We used to get around that by keying the phone like morse code only recreating the number we wanted instead of words.

Bartender: “Is there a Jacque Strapp here? I need a Jacque Strapp to take this call.”……
B: ….“No, he’s not here”.
C: “OK, I will try calling Moe’s. Before you hang up though, is Seymour Butz there?”
