[ By the way, been loving the collages, remind me of 1960’s Jack Kirby “Fantastic Four” comics … ] ✨❤️✨

Ahh… I hear some places actually bar entry for anyone who isn’t Japanese. Crazy thing to think about, considering discrimination like that is illegal in the States.

Ironic, I heard there was a store in China that banned all Chinese people from shopping there, allowing only foreigners.

So at the beginning they toss you out of school, then you’re welcomed into a bar…makes sense to me! XD

What difference does it make if they don’t want foreigners, they’ll probably make an exception since they think you’re a Prince anyway, at least I presume the barmaid believes that too, by the way she kind of looks like Ellie to me.

Unluckily that’s a situation in Japan, some places doesn’t allow foreigners, not matter if they speak perfectly Japanese.

I have never experienced a place in Japan where I was not welcomed or that was not inviting. I only hope that that never changes.

The artwork is exquisite. Oji sama (Sam) and Oto (Sedine) are welcomed like any good guest in most places. There are a few “grouchy” chefs that make it difficult, but most of the “grouchy variety” I find in the US (although they are Japanese) restaurants. One in Everett WA near the Boeing site was particulary ornery. He drew comparisons to the Soup Nazi in the local papers. You had to sit when he told you, you were not allowed to order, he told you what you were having, and you had to have cash, and exact change. If you followed his rules and the 100 or so commadments on index cards, he liked you.

The girl sitting at the bar definitely reminds me of one of Kagome’s classmates from Inu-Yasha.

I know Sam’s feeling. In the Army 1974 I was temporarily duty assigned to Germany. The tank company I was with set up outside the little German town. We were sent into town to recon about 10pm….which meant beer run. I was in full combat gear. I saw the sign which I got “Bier hall” and that was all. German music just oozing out. I walked into the place and everything and everyone stopped and just stared. Scanning the room I quickly recognized the old German military markings specifically the SS ones. I had stumbled into their version of an American VA Hall! I was met by this big guy who asked sternly what did I want. I explained politely that I was with the tank company outside town and was just looking to buy some beer. He went from stern to grin. He was a Major of a German SS paner group in WW2. Our common bond was we were both Panzer commandos.

Worked with the Philippine Air Force in Zamboanga City in the past. Sometimes had to go to Clark Air Force base to provide training. Some Koreans have been buying up bars and shops near the west side of town, now known as Korea Town. They can own the businesses, but not the land. Very discriminating against anyone not korean coming into the establishment (or just to me and my friends). Don’t understand the audacity of doing that in someone else’s country.

Now all Sam needs are business cards with “Sam — Tokyo Dandy” printed on them so he’ll be prepared for any necessary business card exchange.
