I try to buy only things I can actually use. I believe the last two things I bought in souvenir shops were hats to keep the sun from burning my nose… then there was that bottle opener.
By far, the best souvenir that I have ever brought home was a “dragon ball” from China, where there are balls inside of balls – like Russian stacking dolls, but spheres each with carvings.

Every posting, we’d get an oil or watercolour painting of a point of interest. The first was a 3×4” townscape of Vieux-Québec in oil.
