This conversation would make sense if we knew that they lived in a high rise. Do Heart and her friends all live in the same building? I though she lived in some kind of row house.
Maddie looks about 6 or 7. If Heart is only 11, that seems like Maddie would be too much for Heart to handle. I think it would go better if the child were under kindergarten age.
