These days, most everyone pays the same for long distance as for local calls. I donât know anyone who pays more. Once upon a time, long distance was expensive so those kind of calls were short and rare (at least for us âpoorâ folks).
My hubs thinks that if itâs long distance (even if thatâs not really a thing any more) he always talks very loud. Heâs hard of hearing, though, and seems to think that he needs to yell.
I stopped calling one of my friends because she insisted each time in putting her four-year-old on the phone. The child shouted incomprehensibly into the mouthpiece and had no idea who I was.

Our 2 yo granddaughter calls every day to tell us about her day. I just wish I understood her.

actually land line companies still charge long distance after a usual 30 min free.

Are there still long distance charges anymore? We are VOIP home phone and mobiles. We have no long distance charges anymore.
