When we put our previous house on the market the first four people looking at it were flippers. Since the kitchen was last updated in the late ‘80s (oak cabinets are SO obsolete you know), they all decided they couldn’t make a fast buck on it. Ended up selling to two RNs that just moved into the area.
New housing is more expensive than a renovation/remodel. In some California counties (San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz at least AFAIK) one can knock down 3 walls and rebuild and still call it a renovation/remodel. And then when that’s all done, you can knock down the 4th wall, rebuild and call it a renovation.

You’ve got the time, but afraid to spend the money! I hear lumber prices are really high now!

Own a home long enough and most of it will NEED renovating at some point.
