One summer, we lived on a block with lots of big trees, so naturally, there were squirrels. Evenings, we’d sit on the patio beneath one, and a squirrel would come part way down the trunk and scold the cat. When she’d respond, it would run around the other side and chatter. She’d sneak around the base of the tree, and it would scold her again and run around the other side. After a few revolutions, he’d run around the other side, up the tree, over the roof and down the street, leaving the cat to search the tree in vain.

my gal dog caught a squirrel last month. It was actually in her mouth but she let it go. Evidently it was more fun to chase than to eat.
