When I fly (or used to fly pre-pandemic), I wear noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs. The headphones take out the lows and the earplugs take out the highs. Strangely enough, I can then hear conversations several seats away. Also, I often think I am the only one who can actually hear the Captain’s announcements.
