I have worked with kids for 16 years, and while the more dramatic ones certainly take the cake for whininess, the majority are much wiser and more self-actualized than previous generations. It’s today’s boomers (and many of my fellow gen-Xers) who act increasingly victimized because they’re terrified of the world changing and their control over it rapidly waning.
