You can’t even BUY a bag of Halloween candy around here. It was all sold very early, and shelves have not been restocked. I doubt if the purchased candy is being saved for Trick or Treaters. We do have around a few bags of wrapped bubble gum and suckers, and non-candy treats.
Now wait a minute. There could be hordes of children suddenly showing up at the door Halloween night. You’ve just got to be prepared! (And I think that excuse works as well as any.)
Some places near me are doing “drive-thru” trick-or-treating. Everyone stays in the car and the homeowners come out to the curb and (wearing gloves) hand out treat bags (nothing homemade). Some of the houses will be decked out for the holiday. Might work.
I live on a dead-end street. The most Trick-or-Treaters I’ve ever had is 4. Every year I buy full-size candy bars and hope that word will get out. The usual box has 18.This year, since I’m self-isolating + not going to stores (I plan to hang a bag or candy on the door), I ordered what I thought was the same thing from Amazon. Seemed kinda pricey, but hey, pandemic…This box has 30 bars. Had. :)
To get ready for Halloween I always buy a large supply of candy. Of course it’s a candy I like so if I don’t get enough of the little bas…er…kids coming by I’ll end up eating it and it won’t go to waste. To “waist” yes, but not to waste.

2020 – the Twilight Zone Year continues. If anyone shows up at my door, it’ll be Rod Serling.

The bag of Reeces I bought this morning won’t last until halloween, and they were not meant to

Yup—the temptation of Halloween candy will get ya if you’re not careful.
