    One of my Portuguese mother’s home remedies was hot vinegar with sugar. I strongly suspect that’s the reason why I have never liked the taste of wine.

    Hijole!!! I only had to deal with emulsion of castor oil (for anemia), Creomulsion (for chest colds), and bathing in a tub of rosemary twigs when I got the measles as a kid!!

    I’m surprised no enterprising Mexican has tried to market a sobada, along the lines of goat yoga if nothing else. I’m sure there are health benefits to be claimed.

    Owww. The massage was punishment for lying. My mom mixed baking soda in water. Still it was ewwww.

    Qué recuerdos. Antes de la sobada, mi mamá me regañaba y reclamaba que estaba enfermo por haber visto la televisión todo el día. No importaba si era la cabeza, el estomago o los píes. La televisión era la culpable.
