GBT once spent a week satirizing that movie in the strip, with Boopsie as the female lead. I don’t remember who the male lead was.
Also, it occurs to me that, like Duke, Honey, and Earl, Zeke is a character whose eyes we never see. As was discussed either last week or the week before, GBT usually draws a character’s eyes as either innocent or cynical, but apparently those who dwell in Duke’s dark underworld have a look in their eyes that he dares not show us. OSLT. ;-)
Nice line of BS. I have thought of Bridges of Madison County in years. Good movie, that. Who knew it could be a pickup line. Of course he did drive a pickup soooo…
It suddenly occurred to me that J.J. has never had a relationship with someone her own age, just older men. (Both of Mike’s wives were much younger than he was as well.)
As I recall, the woman in Bridges of Madison County stayed in her unfulfilling marriage and didn’t run off with the dashing photographer, thus causing the Catholic Church to approve the movie.
I’m not quite getting what’s going on here with Zeke & JJ. Does she still carry a torch for this loser? And JJ got married again? Nobody ever tells me anything.
Some may remember that when Nicole, at a college reunion, asked Mike to spend the weekend with her, and Mike’s reaction was more accurately described as “confused” than anything else, J.J. called him an “adulterer” (yet somehow no demerits accrued to Nicole for outright asking a man to break his marriage vows). It was WTH then and it’s WTH now. :-|

Sometime in the future, Mike should have sent Zeke a thank you note.
