I hope he doesn’t have to crawl to freedom through five hundred yards of **** smelling foulness I can’t even imagine, or maybe I just don’t want to. Five hundred yards… that’s the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.
My Siberian Husky would love to break out at night. He often did it to play with the dalmatian down the street. He figured out how to break out, but he never figured out how to come back in. So it wasn’t too unusual to have to fetch him from the dalmatian’s yard, or more often, to have him sitting at the front gate of the house looking in, as if to ask why you haven’t let him back in yet, because it’s time for breakfast.
Craziest thing, too. He’d just sit there waiting to be let in and won’t move from the spot until you did. So I guess I can’t complain too much if he kept coming back home.
And yes, we’d plug the hole he used to get out and it would only keep him for a day or two.

It’s a reference to the movie Shawshank Redemption. Rita Hayworth? In the movie it changed over time to reflect the latest “it” girl.
