Besides, you were at the doctor following that TD celebration you took too far (https://www.gocomics.com/broomhilda/2020/11/22?ct=v&cti=2208697)!

I am friends with a couple in their 80s. Whenever I would drop off a card and small gift for the lady’s birthday, she lady always said she didn’t want any more birthdays. Not that she wanted to pass, just didn’t want to be reminded how old she was getting. In September her husband had surgery and nearly died. His birthday was a few weeks later and when I went to drop off a card she said they were celebrating birthdays again because she realized anew just how precious they are.

Depends on who the old person is. My grandmother never wanted to be reminded. My grandfather, on the other hand, liked to revel in his old age and would exaggerate it in every conversation.

If we knew when this strip was originally published we could celebrate her birthday.

A well adjusted person does not need much to be happy.

This must be my mother-in-law’s rationale. She starts a couple of weeks ahead of her and her husband’s birthdays, reminding us, but when our birthdays roll around there’s nothing, unless we invite her over for cake.

I don’t mind being reminded (remembered) on my birthday. But you don’t have to mention how that number seems to be getting bigger each time.

I tend to forget my birthday— thankfully the state now sends out a note reminding me when my I need to renew my driver’s license. I actually missed doing so a couple of times. I’m just not focused there.

There’s old, and then there’s OLD. I am old, but still like receiving birthday best wishes (not gifts). I am, however, not “Broomie-old”!
