I took the duck boat tour in Philadephia, where they showed a plaque on the former home of the flag designer, making the point then that Betsy Ross only made it. Sorry, I don’t remember the man’s name, but I have a picture of the plaque – somewhere.
I always understood it as Betsy Ross sewed the flag, but she didn’t design it. The design was brought to her by members of the secret committee from the continental congress and she was only the seamstress who followed the pattern and put it together. The idea that she actually designed it is one of those many, many myths that become “truth” after a long period of time and having enough people repeat the story over and over again.
Further investigation discovered, contrary to the image pictured, that golfer Tom McAuliffe used a foot wedge.
Santa Anna’s ad campaign of ‘Remember the Chiclet’ did not catch on so he sold the rights to Wrigley who then wasted the successful profits on the Cubs.
Betsy Ross did not design the flag. She made the flag.
here’s one for you, when the Alamo was captured the fight was over keeping slaves in Texas, Santa Anna and the Mexicans had freed their slaves, Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie were fighting to keep them…history is fascinating
Old facts relative to our current lifetimes, but continually interesting and relevant. Another interesting fact relative and relevant to the afore mentioned facts. The first flag of the Republic of Texas displayed 1824, a specific reminder to Santa Anna that he continued to be the worst traitor to Mexico.

Next time you stick you hand under a desk and find a disgusting, wet wad of chewing gum,
. . . Remember the guy who took the Alamo.

Betsy seems shocked upon hearing she didn’t design the flag.

Many years ago, I met a woman who had no hands. And one of my coworkers is a one-armed man(No, he didn’t kill a doctor’s wife).

Santa Anna, himself? Nah. Someone on his staff. That’s a delegated task.

Santa Anna’s gum was laced with opium. He had been wounded earlier in a battle and the opium, delivered via the laced gum, eased his pain.

I finally learned the guy’s full name: Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón. No wonder we always shorten it.
