A l-o-o-o-ng time ago when I was in high school, the first day of deer season was a school holiday. It was as much for the teachers as for the students. But there was always the chance of we students getting shot by a hunter, being as far in the back woods as our school was.

Waaaaay back the girls were left out on this day so a group of us decided we wanted to “protest!” We all called in sick and ee went to “shop?” We were brought in office and told the story. No expulsions or suspensions.
