I worked as an engineer at Boeing for almost 30 years. I would have worked there a lot longer, maybe up to age 70, but they closed down the facility in this berg and laid me off. I had to retire early. I do miss working.
Leave it to the wife to hit a person with a dose of reality. I do have to say that telecommuting has given me a new outlook on my work. Every day is casual Friday.
Having to go to work every day kills all joy, on the other hand retirement is joy every day. If you believe that I may be able to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. LOL!!

I actually enjoyed working… and for a great company!! Then I suffered a disability and had to retire!!
