It’s a wonder that “Old Brad” ever survived to grow up to become “New Brad” … but then again maybe some of this eventually sunk in and allowed it.

Frank needs to realize that his some often acts like he has the IQ of a salad bar so he should not beat around the bush with dialogue like he used above. Frank: just be straight forward and simple so Brad can comprehend you: “Brad put that jacket away now or you are grounded for a month!”

This is one of those parental questions that doesn’t require an answer, but an action, like:

“What’s that noise?!” (Don’t answer with the name of the band, but by turning it down).

“What are these cloths doing all over the floor?” (Don’t respond with “Nothing… They’re just lying there.”, but by picking them up).

“Why haven’t you picked up your room?” (Don’t answer “It’s too heavy”, but by cleaning it.)

OR

Frank – “I wonder how you’re going to afford to be able to work on that scrap heap of a car of yours after I cut off your allowance.”

OR

Brad – “My jacket is on the floor for a good reason, dad. It’s covering up the oil stain I made on the carpet! (Oops)”

Should’a picked it up and hid it, and when Brad said, “Has anybody seen my jacket?” Frank could say “Not lately.”

“Everything’s gotta be somewhere.”

Old guys really hate clothing on the floor. It aches too much when you bend over to pick it up. :) :(
