Checked Wikipedia. Yasuke seems to have seen the great warlords of the time while in service to Nobunaga. Any idea if he was a willing member of the Jesuit mission he arrived with?
Legends always have a basis in truth somewhere. The fact they can be surprised by this when living with a sweet impossibility (No offence, Tanuki) says a lot.
The Black Samurai Begins (part 1/4). There’s been more research done on, Yasuke, the first African Samurai, in recent years. It’s exciting to know that he was real. I love the idea that Tanuki might have known him four hundred years ago.
