My one guy, would eat the cheese and spit out the pill. Our little foster just eats the pill right in his food bowl, mixed in with the food. He is The only dog I ever had that didnt fight pill time.
Now that being said, he was also the only dog I have ever owned that didnt need a cone when he was fixed. He licked once, I said “Dont do that”, and he never touched it again.
I treat my dogs with Nutter Butter cookies regularly. When their pills come in frozen peanut butter globs, they eat them with no questions asked. Yeah, I’m a tricky treat-er.
I just saw on Facebook that one of Brian’s cats, the REAL Equinox, has gone missing. Yes, Chewie and Equinox are both his real kitties! More info at link, anybody in the area please keep an eye out!
I found if you wrap pill in cheese have a second piece of cheese in other hand. Let dog see both.. he will swallow pill cheese whole so he can get next piece. Works like a hot dam.
The first few times I have to give any of my pups a pill, I give treat, treat, pill, treat, treat. A couple of times doing that and they’re convinced the pill is also a treat. Making them do a trick for it just reinforces the treat idea.
Had to stop the cheese put the pill on her tongue and hold her mouth closed till she swallowed. We checked her mouth and then gave her a treat and made a big deal about it so she’d take the pill again.

Are these Rex and Daniel-level shenanigans, or Brian and Jason-level?

Human, next time use Stilton, Danish blue or, if you can get it, Caerphilly. Strong smelling cheeses.

I just put the pills inside a lump of raw ground beef and no problem.

Ive never really had all that much trouble giving pills to pets, but they may have had a different opinion about how much trouble it was

Our Brandy would pop the pill into the side of her mouth, swallow the cheese and move away. We found pills in many different rooms LOL
