We do NOT need to make so much noise. I guess noisy fireworks are exciting to many people. I wish that we could consider the feelings of those who are hurt by this racket. It is not a trivial matter.
In my neighborhood there were nitwits with “Christmas fireworks”. I agree with the combat veteran: I have no pleasant associations with loud unexpected explosions.
Every year, before he died, our neighbor would shoot his 12 gauge twice at midnight on New Years. We came to expect it. The year we stopped hearing it was somber.
