I had an emotionally distant mother. She passed away in 2013. I could not tell you how many times I would ask her questions about herself only to be told that it was none of my business. I told her only sibling, her sister, that I felt as if I did not really know my mother. Her response was, “Who does?” Not sure why I am posting this. I guess this strip was a trigger.
Sometimes I wonder how anyone grow up even somewhat sane. Most everyone has stories about their parents’ indifference, cruelty, or downright abuse. I’m sure my kids do too.
MikeyJ—-It must have been an extremely painful childhood. Children need to feel their parents love them, and to have a close relationship, especially with their mothers. It takes a lot of work to sort through all of the memories and heal. I hope you have people in your life who love and value you. Thank you for sharing. And I hope 2021 will be kind to you.

I had an Aunt who was kind of like Aunt Trudy. She was an old maid. I always felt sorry for her.
