I’m wondering what the other device is. We have Chromecast in our home, and it works pretty well. I would imagine it’s on the same level as is ROKU. I have not looked into them, Chromecast was a gift from my daughter.
My smart TV has a bunch of apps as does my PS4 so IF I ever want to watch anything, I can usually find something on one of those two devices. And I have prime, so I could even use other devices if I want.

I wonder if this would work on my 15 year old Bravia t.v.?
